I’ve personally seen photographs of yeshiva students in Eastern Europe that were taken during the 1930s. None of the students in the photos have beards. A now elderly rabbi who was in one of the photos (and now has a beard) vouched for the truth of the photos and told me that the boys used depilatories.
And the above ‘proves’ since they did it, it ‘must’ be muttar?
