It’s not a new issue, I personally dont think it’s fair.
The chinuch roundtable had the question last year and most of the Rabbonim felt it wasnt right.
2 years ago my friend made about half of what he did the year before and couldnt pay the amount the school wanted, so his girls didnt get report cards
