HaRav Yitzchok Glick shlita is the director of the Kashrus division of the CRC. His office is right across the Hudson River (if you are in Manhattan).
Sure they alert when theres a problem. But due to their very high standards, it has been almost unheard of that a CRC certified product or establishment had any issue. (It happened, but extremely rarely — far less than any comparable organization.)
Everyone relies on OU for at least some basic staples.
