now in new york at least its very hard to get a license for a gun, you have to have a reason (ex. jewler) and a good record.Someone i know was in a furniture store about fifteen years ago and he happened to meet another person he knew, suddenly 3 men came in with guns and informed everyone in the store that it was a hold up the person i know had a gun, he took it out shot 2 of them and the third the cops got down the block.So i guess there are ups and downs to having a gun.
