I am sorry for your loss; I recently finished the year for my mother. I guess you should ask your LOR because I was told that I had to send to two people, but was not allowed to receive any back. My family was allowed to receive but I could not be handed anything. As far as I know, you cannot go to anyone else’s house for a seudah. You should only know from simchos.
