The holy Steipler was a Chasidic Jew. As much as the yeshivisher world thinks he was litvish, he was born through a bracha from Reb Motel of Hornisteipel. He wore a gartel under his long jacket. He went to Mikva very often, even on Shabbos. He was very humble and would stand up for anyone who he knew was a Hornisteipler einikel.
