Oh, yes you can. One look, and you can tell if this kid (and, in most cases his parents) are on the ball, or off the radar (or “tzum zach / not nogeia”, if that’s what your orientation is.)
Don’t belive me? Scope out any chasseneh, and see who stands apart from the herd. You may not spot the nuances, but the finished product is readily apparent. And the ones who give two hoots, they are readily apparent as well. Not that one is better than the other.. just different.
(No idea how the hat-less crowd draws lines, but I’m sure they have their own yardstick)
And despite the men’s reluctance to admit it, we sure do know the diff between our wives being make-up intensive or au natural. We just don’t want to subject OURSELVES to that sort of rigor.
And so, we play it down…but fully understand it. Except for tweezing. (yeeouch!)
