The Shitta of the Gedolim in Eretz Yisroel is that money that is supporting learning takes precidence over all other political matters. How can you blame the Agudah for following the P’sak Halacha of Gedolim like Rav Elyashiv?
Perhaps their learning IS more critical than defense of marriage?
