I will explain.I come from a very heimish family.my father has chassidish minhagim which he got from his father who was part of ger chassidim.i didnt grow up chassidish but when i got to israel..i got very into it and continue to learn and practice. There is nothing lacking in my mesorah..what was lacking was the world that i was learning in..very dry..making everyone the same.It works for certain people just not for me so i explored and got into chassidus. My Rebbe at the time(this was about a year after getting into it)pulled me aside one day and gave me a card for a psychiatrist…he said to me..in case you feel like killing yourself one day(because of the chassidus)call this number first.BH im still alive and happy and BH i stopped talking to him after that. This was a person who learned by gedolim to.Im not going out against anything.Im asking what your opinion on the matter is.Eventually i had to leave that yeshiva,i was aksed to leave because of my beard.
Nowadays,in most mainstream American yeshivos in Israel, they teach very little chassidus but some have started and its growing.
Some rebbes will laugh in ur face if u mention the baal shem tov to them.
