Meaning that if they are meant to believe that there is a higher purpose, even when things are bad, and they don’t, then there is always tomorrow to try again. I just heard Rabbi Reisman say (on tape) that sometimes the test is to be in prolonged difficulty and be unwavering in your bitachon that there is a higher purpose, not just to look back after a short test and say it when it is over. (He gave the example of being out of work for 6 years, as opposed to 2)
