Deiyezooger: I heard a similar sevara as yours. On leil shabbos two malachim accompany a person home; one for zachar and one for shomer.
Since Pesach is Leil Shimurim, even these malachim don’t accompany a person home. However, my family still has the minhag to sing sholom aleichem.
