Choppy, it does not mean that the Sanhedrin is indeed right. Itjust means that you have a chiyuv to follow them even though they are wrong. However, you need a Sanhedrin for that. Besides, if a Rov paskens a shailah, and you know he is wrong, you can not follow him.
