Itche: I don’t disagree. There are enough other options nowadays that the Heter M’chirah really shouldn’t be necessary. All it really is now is a “Limud Z’chus” on those who wouldn’t keep Shmittah at all anyway. I have heard some fairly big (no one huge though) Rabbonim say that because there are legitimate Shittos that hold of it it’s okay for those who use it.
