Most people who voted for Obama voted for their own financial and health security. Obama promised to protect the first $250K from increased income taxes. People are worried about medical bills bankrupting them. The safety net for the elderly and disabled is critical.
I actually belived that Romney would also leave these protections in place, but he failed to convince enough people of this. He made good progress in this matter during the debates, but not enough.
