re Kahlua: The rumor you may be referring to is that if you buy it directly from Mexico it is kosher, and that the only problem is the lack of kashrus at the US bottling plant. Whether or not this was true at one time, IT IS NOT TRUE now. You can call a kashrus agency to confirm this/discuss the rumor. Kahlua is history (to the kosher market).
