That is the standard term for it – I only write 96 to save time and because there are those on this thread who have no connection with Yiddish. Russian Chassidim also call it spirt, which is the standard Russian word for the stuff.
For instance, at times someone has pointed to me and said: “Er macht kiddush mit spirt”. Usually I do it only during Tishrei, on parshas Tzav due to the gematriya, and on the Shabbos before my bday.
