How about beer? I wanted to have something with my seuda for Gimmel Tammuz, and it is too hot for wine or hard stuff so I bought and drank a pint bottle of a local beer with a 10% alcohol content, more than some of the kiddush wines out there these days. Let’s put it this way – I am in no condition to walk, let alone to drive, right now but a few glasses of water and it will pass.
Usually if I really want to enjoy beer I buy Guinness stout, with or without the widget. 100% kosher, I think supervised by the Federation but I am not sure. As far as anything else is concerned, the non-alcoholic beers taste better and that is what I drink if I just want a beer to cool off in the summer. I think we have Staropramen and Tuborg at kiddush in shul and both are OK but nothing special.
