I cannot recall seeing any cake in a shull during davening, OK maybe when there is a kiddush, they would bring it out at the end of mussaf.
I have davened in plenty of chasiddishe shulls, yet I have never been at a kiddush club. yes, I dont go to those near off chasidishe shulls..
Any decent and serious chasiddishe shull has no ‘events’ going on during davening.
You mentioned coffee, although coffee is not the subject here, I will agree that this is an ‘issue’ in a lot of chassidishe shull, but it is not an event, it only takes a few minutes to drink a coffee and is no way a social gathering.
