From a personal and theological perspective, I really couldn’t care less about the pope. But for my christian brothers and sisters, I am really proud for them. I don’t know who the other contenders were, but it looks like they aced choosing this pope.
He seems very humble and worthy of such a post (no pun intended)- the simple wooden necklace he wears, and leading a hardly-material life.
The fact that he is a traditional conservative means a lot to me (since we are very much in sync on about every issue out there), so that the leading Rabbis could continue to work closely with the Vatican on educational and social issues.
