No chiddushim here but really the only way to appreciate Shabbos is to first learn about Shabbos, both what Shabbos is all about and its importance for a Jew, and the Halachos. Then you can come up with various ways to make it more meaningful, but first you need to know what you are doing and why and how to do it.
