    Did the Yidden actually receive 10 Commandments or were they actually statements – after all the word, ‘Dibrot’, literally translates as ‘statements’?…

    Anochi is understood to be a mitzvah to have emunah, and the rest are obviously commandments, so other than semantics, is there a nafka mina?

    I don’t remember which Sefer of counting of Mitsvot, but it is listed as 14 Mitsvot.

    Calling the Aseres Hadibros the “Ten Commandments” is a term coined by the non-Jews.

    The Torah is Sefer Devorim several times addresses them as “Asseres haDevorim”

    Then when you consult Sefer haChinuch, you shall note that the Asseres haDibros do contain 14 Mitzvos [precepts].
