We are all shaken up, angry, worried etc. in such and similar situations we are told one should be מפשפש במעשיו, one should search and see in which area he/she can improve in their Avodas Hashem. How nice and appropriate it would be if we can post on this thread what improvement we are taking on. and if it turns out a significant list, maybe someone can downloaded and bring/send it to the 2 families and to that community. that would be a very beautiful think for them, and of course לעילוי נשמות of the 2 קדושים הי”ד.
I take on בלי נדר to listen to חזרת הש”ץ and not continue davening during חזרת הש”ץ.
BTWit doesnt have to be ‘big’ things, can be ‘small’ things, but something realistic, something you feel you can and will keep. The truth is, there are no ‘small’ things, every thing one does to improve his/her Avodas Hashem is a BIG thing.

When such a large tragedy like this in Jersey city happens. Its time for everyone to take on together as one nation SERIOUS TESHUVA AND ACHDUS WITH LOVE for everyone together. It will also be a big zchus for the neshamos and help towards the bringing of Mashiach which will bring the neshamos lives back alive again.

May we all do it very soon as one and May their neshamos have an aliya

How about coming home to Israel or at least starting to plan? That is the biggest avodat Hashem and includes everything else. According to Ramban all your avoda in Chul is onky practice.

your suggestion might start a discussion on this topic, but lets be realistic, its is not going to encourage anyone to actually move to Erets Yisroel. lets focus on what anyone reading this might do something good today.

lets try to come up with something specific. not just in a general way. when pointing out a specific thing there is more of a chance for someone doing something good.

How about not taking your phone into shul? Don’t look out of you siddur during shemona esra? If you see a tissue on the floor in shul how about picking it up to show respect for the place? These things might look small for you but I’m sure G-D considers it a very big deal

Insuring all family members fully and completely follow the halachos of tznius.

Joseph: What does life insurance have to do with tznius? The halachos of life insurance is complicated, but I don’t think tznius is in the mix.

Huju: Complying with halachos like tznius results in the RBS”O insuring less tragedies occur.

Joseph, again with insurance? Why do you keep mentioning it? Do the insurance companies charge less for people who keep tznius?

Milhouse: What did I say about insurance? Are you referring to another thread?

The underwriting department for Shamayim Life and Casualty Company definitely takes tzinius into account as a risk factor, along with the applicants overall status as a shomer/shomeret torah umitzvos with special consideration of their ahavas yisroel and sinas chimam points. Yidden with a history of insulting and demeaning posts against other yidden in the CR may still qualify for a term policy but it is considerably more expensive and is subject to annual renewal.

No, Joseph, I’m referring to this thread. I thought you would pick up huju’s hint, but apparently not.

I keep getting frustrated watching everyone dance in circles completely missing the point. As Moshiach approaches, Hashem is FORCING Klal Yisroel to come back to Eretz Yisroel. Tfillos and Kabalos can help individuals, but NOTHING will help the tzibbur until people get the message. Jews are leaving Europe by the tens of thousands and the same will happen in the US. Nothing is working there and neither will it work here. I just daven that my Jewish brother and sisters will get the message before more lives are lost.

רבותי! this thread was started with the intention to encourage yidden to improve in Torah and Mitzvos. and nice ideas were brought up above. this thread was not meant to discuss ideas of how and where we can live a safer life, although its a very important topic. some may argue that living in Erets Yisroel today is a Mitsva too. but realistically, no one will move to EY as i result of reading a post here. so lets focus on practical things that a reader might take upon themselves to improve in Torah and Mitzvos.
