I’ve noticed an increasing amount of attention paid to lawsuits filed by Orthodox Jews against airlines. The latest story reported by YWN appears to be a case of a couple complaining of bias when they weren’t provided with a privilege that other passengers don’t receive.
Perhaps the lawyers or the politically minded could clarify if this is:
A) a strategy to put pressure on the airline through the media to pay some sort of settlement. (If law firms are feeding these stories to YWN, I think readers should be informed)
B) a way of confronting wider antisemitism by dealing with smaller but high profile cases. (Again, if organizations representing the “frum” community think this an appropriate strategy, YWN should disclose their source).
or C) there are truly people who are truly so ignorant and needy that they waste time and money on frivolous lawsuits because they were inconvenienced, in spite of anything דרך ארץ, הלכה, or comment sense may say. (And YWN is basicly an aggregate news source, and we’re all welcome to roll our eyes at the “shtetle jews” who make us all look bad).D) This site realizes such a story is great click-bait for the clientele that frequents here. As such, publishing such stories results in good ad revenue.
Also, America needs tort reform. We are too litigious a society. Every stupid mistake (I’m not referring to any particular story) shouldn’t result in a lawsuit.

Not exactly. They are claiming that the flight attendant went through the overhead compartments and ONLY removed the bag with Teffilin .
I would never sue in such a case anyway but I also think that most lawsuits in the US are little more than legalized theft (lawyers don’t such a terrible reputation for nothing) If anything this is more of a case of some couple jumping onto the “sue” bandwagon.
There are no frum communal organizations taking up this couples cause.

Your post would make sense if they complained to the airline and they got Nowhere.
The whole reason that they made lawsuits is because sometimes you can’t get Justice.
That was the main reason.
Yes, there are Flaws in the legal system, but I found the other way too.
I found Judges & Big companies tend to Flaunt the Law, just because they Can!
There are big problems with any Lawsuits, it’s more like Kol DoOlam Gavar.
We have a far way to Really have Fair Justice in this Country!> and ONLY removed the bag with Teffilin .
maybe because it was a small bag that took extra place? I am sure if there were a muslim prayer mat there, they would have removed it too (and it would be ok to put it on the floor).
Smerel I hope you never need an attorney to help you in your own frivolous lawsuit. You paint with a broad brush and shmear an entire segment of society, many of whom are Jewish and many of whom are frum. Sickening.

What is sickening is the many Jewish and many frum lawyers who would take frivolous lawsuits in hope of getting some low hanging fruit, such as the frum lawyer who sued McDonalds for making the people who were eating burgers and fries fat. Uh…I hope I would never engage a lawyer for a frivolous lawsuit. I’m going to repeat that lawyers have a terrible reputation in the US and it’s not for nothing. A frum lawyer who fought for the wrong side because they were the ones padding his pockets is no better than a non-Jewish lawyer who did the same (in that area)

If you didn’t read the lawsuit Brief, how do you know that it’s a frivolous lawsuit?!?You want to live in a country where you’re forced to put Tefillin on the floor or get kicked off your flight. I don’t.
These flight stories keep getting worse. They feel that anything that went through their mind they have the right to bully you into obeying.
The real “Shtetl Yid” is the one with the what-are-the-goyim-gonna-say complex.
