I’m curious about how many coffee room inhabitants own pets.
Are you a pet owner? How many pets do you own? What types of animals do you own? How long have you owned them for?
I’m looking forward to hearing your responses.As for myself: I own two gerbils. I purchased my first twi gerbils, SnowFlake and RainDrop, almost two years ago at Petsmart. SnowFlake died this past September, and I purchased a new gerbil, Regent, to be RainDrop’s new companion.
We have 3 dogs and a cat. All are rescues.
We typically have had 5 dogs and 2 cats during the past 20+ years, but made a decision 5 years ago not to replace any pets that died as we aged.As I’ve stated in another thread
I have two goldfish
Two border collies and one cat.
I have two skunks, 4 groundhogs, 3 rabbits, and 5 deer.
3 cats
2 mice, 3 cockroachs and 1 bat.
We have a carnivorous plant
I have 5 Rabbits, I took them to the bank to get a free automatic transfer that all bank’s offer and the bank took off their T in their birth certificate and they automatically became 5 learned Jewish Rabbi’s. They now each run their own synagogue with a full mixture of different animals attending.
We had a dog from the time she was 8 weeks old until we had to euthanize her when she was just short of her 13th birthday. (She had cancer.)
We adopted another dog right around the time Covid hit the big time. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we had to give her up. Luckily, we found a very loving couple for her.Mods, is there a reason why this thread is on the top of the coffee room threads, among the sticky posts?

None right now, but I had 2 goldfish as a kid and one lived for 14 years! We also semi-adopted our neighbors cat that had been born feral and wouldn’t live inside. She liked to leave us presents.
One cat, about 12 years old. We had to put our first cat down in 2013. He got very sick, very quickly.
3 indoors cats.
We also feed and shelter a lot of outdoor feral cats. It is why we never see rats in our neighborhood.
When I was a kid, we had two dogs.
As married adults, my wife and I had hamsters.

A Rov I know accidentally became the animal expert of the local Vaad. He regularly puts out essays on Kosher L’Pesach pet food, animals on Shabbos, and other related issues. He one time told a story about a woman who had been calling the Vaad hotline asking shaylos about her animals. After the third or fourth call, she asked him how many pets he owns, since he seems so knowledgeable. “Umm.. none”.
I forgot. I have two racoons and countless squirrels.
I have a dog. Always had a pet. Impossible to think of being pet less
No pets at the moment (we’ve had chickens and goldfish – and plenty mice but wouldn’t exactly call theose pets…)
At the moment we just have a bunch of vilde chayos.
No, just cute ‘kids’.
