I think I remember learning something about the length of the straps of tefillin. I noticed mine points to my knee and the other one points to my leg. Is this too long? No one has said anything to me.

many people in shul wear their teffillin unfortunately in ways and places that are not yotzei the mitzvah at all and yet generally nothing is said.

    Nothing’s wrong with too long

Ideally the right strap should go to the makom ervah and the left should be a little shorter (ie not quite reaching there).

Klach, that what I thought. I was not 100 % positive though. So Do I NEED to have them shortened? considering it is “ideal”?

“to have them shortened” If you need them shortened, do yourself, with a scissor, just as the sofer would do. The higher limit is the heart and the belly button if you misjudge.

There is no problem being to long, there is a minimum how long it should be as mentioned above.
