Even powdered stevia has dextrose in it.
Recently, I sprinkled Splenda in my coffee -boy was it delicious!
Xylitol mints are awesome.
Now I forgot why I was anti-artificial sweeteners.
Better than sugar, right?
Only thing… artificially sweetened halvah. For some reason, that made me sick. Different sweetener and larger dose.
Please tell me it’s okay to have a Splenda packet a day

Since you asked nicely: It’s okay to have a Splenda packet a day.
Seriously though, it’s all relative. If you are obese or can’t have sugar for other reasons, then artificial sweetener will do less harm than sugar. If you are as thin as a pencil with a high rate of metabolism, then avoid the sweetener just in case, and have the sugar.
The most delicious coffee of all is one with neither. I used to have sugar in my coffee, until one day a few years ago when I just quit. It took only a few days to get used to, and now even a single spoonful in a big mug makes it taste sickly sweet to me. Try it for a week to see if it works for you, its worth it.January 30, 2019 3:36 pm at 3:36 pm #1671128JosephParticipant
Stevia is healthier than regular sugar.January 30, 2019 5:52 pm at 5:52 pm #1671152funnyboneParticipant

Stevia tastes awful and it’s usually better (more pleasant) to simply not use a sweetener.January 30, 2019 5:52 pm at 5:52 pm #1671194LogicyidParticipant
Stevia is best of the bad bunch but has a weird aftertaste. Xylitol is second. The rest are literally poison.
Sucralose (splenda) and Equal are the absolute worst and cause endocrine disruption among other things. Anyone with a cronic illness or below 21 should avoid any amount of these. So have in “moderation” at your own risk.
Unless you are diabetic it is much better to have actual sugar in moderation than any of these things. They are chemicals not food, at least sugar from sugar cane is actual food.January 30, 2019 6:16 pm at 6:16 pm #1671239JosephParticipant
Stevia is not a chemical.January 30, 2019 7:19 pm at 7:19 pm #1671251
Xylitol is poison. Don’t give it to your dog.January 30, 2019 11:38 pm at 11:38 pm #1671317MenoParticipant
Artificial sweeteners are gross. Real sweet or no sweet at all.January 31, 2019 11:09 am at 11:09 am #16716072scentsParticipant

I would like to thank you, I used to only drink sweet coffee either using sugar or sweeteners, while I knew that both options are not optimal, I still used them. After reading your post, I decided to try coffee without any sugar or sweeteners, I am starting to like it. Thanks for that.January 31, 2019 4:39 pm at 4:39 pm #1671782
But sugar in the coffee isn’t just there as a sweetener, it’s there to give an energy boost. Black coffee doesn’t count as a meal.January 31, 2019 4:40 pm at 4:40 pm #1671874funnyboneParticipant
I agree with meno. Xylitol though is decent.January 31, 2019 4:40 pm at 4:40 pm #1671910MTGParticipant
artificial sweetener doesn’t taste good, isn’t even good, and is pointless.January 31, 2019 5:26 pm at 5:26 pm #16721092scentsParticipant
Not sure about you, but I will not trade a meal for some sugar.January 31, 2019 7:52 pm at 7:52 pm #1672157
True. It’s more of a snack.
