too funny! I wish I had nothing to do. Today’s mantra is more like, “at work with lots to do but don’t feel like doing it”.

If you’re bored maybe you should go out and buy a sushi platter.

oh thats so frustrating, rather be home doing getting things done!

You can teach yourself a skill online, like coding or graphics or sign language.

Orrrrr you can decorate tthe office for purim shtick and then look clueless and innocent tomorrow when the boss asks 😀

purple- to be online having fun when you are being paid to work, yes would be geneiva (putting aside calculating email/coffee breaks etc). sitting at work with nothing to do because your boss is absent and didn’t leave you enough to do however is a different story

I specifically made an agreement with my boss when I signed up that I would be allowed to browse the web or spend time on my own projects when I didn’t have work to do.

i find it funny when people judge first, ask second….

i think it should be fairly obvious that not all jobs require attention every minute of the day, and some have down time where you are free to “kill time” however you please, but you need to remain at your desk.

its shameful how ignorantly people throw around words like “geneiva” without even thinking about what they’re saying…

In my job it is practically pointless to show up if my boss isn’t there. He knows that I normally don’t show up if hes not there and hes fine with that. I can be doing (almost) whatever I want at work as long as I don’t have something to do, but as soon as I do I jump to it.

I would suggest considering to tell the boss, that you would like to get more involved in other facets of the company, to learn more of the business. You can look around and see which group is hardest working and ask if they need some help there but be specific, e.g to enter orders for this division etc.

I am familiar with your situation and it very very nasty thing to go through. Often the boss hates you, and so until he/she can fire you, they try to forget you exists, that you are a person with talent.

Speaking up as I suggest tho you run a risk of getting canned.

You have to decide if that would be ok or not, depending on your family situation, I wouldn’t wish to drive you to asking for Tzedaka on the street or so.

NO!NO!NO! You got it all wrong! My boss loves me and I’m doing great here, it just happens to be a very dead time in my office. Very soon things will pick up and I will have more than enough to do. I’m completely fine with how it is.
