    Big question.

What is pinging a computer. Is it a poke or a tickle?

Pinging is a method of testing if an IP address is able to send and receive data. So If you pinged a computer, you would be sending a command from another computer attached on the network, and seeing if it responds. This can tell you:

    1) If the computer is on (and working)

    2) The network connection on this computer is active

May I hijack this thread for a while? Word 2007 has few keyboard shortcuts and the mouse is killing my hand with CTS. Can I MAKE keyboard shortcuts? If so, how? Thanks a lot.

    1) click: Office button > Word Options > Customize

    2) Next to Keyboard Shortcuts, Click “Customize”

    3) Find the command you want by first selecting a category

    4) If there is already a shortcut, it will be displayed, otherwise select “New Shortcut Key” and create the shortcut (if the key combination is already used, you will be warned)

    5) You can chose if you want this shortcut to be saved permanently, or only for the document you are currently editing, then hit: Assign > Close
