Which is your favorite bakery in NY and what foods are they the most excellent in baking? And how is it better than the competition?

Ostrovitsky’s (Avenue J) “Sour Cream Cheesecake”. I dont think they make it exactly like they used to though, but imho its still the best cheesecake anywhere, just it used to be even better.
Anyone know of a uniquely good (soft) cheesecake, elsewhere in Brooklyn?
February 9, 2015 11:10 am at 11:10 am #1058786blubluhParticipantThis is slightly off topic, but few, if any, modern bakeries have stone/brick ovens for bread (too expensive, etc).
That’s the reason Rye or Corn bread with the crispy crust and soft interior – which I think is the best – is a thing of the past.
I miss it (sniff).
February 10, 2015 5:05 am at 5:05 am #1058787JosephParticipantThe bakery in Fialkoff’s in South Fallsburg makes delicious cakes and rugelech.
