O.K. Since I’m from New York State, to be fair, I want to hear what city you have visited or heard of and think it is the BEST CITY – but it can’t be YOUR city!
(Best = you define it.)
November 21, 2011 2:58 pm at 2:58 pm #829191zahavasdadParticipantVenice
If you even been there you would know it
November 21, 2011 3:10 pm at 3:10 pm #829192apushatayidParticipantI assume after Yerushalayim and anything else in Eretz Yisroel? by the very fact that Yerushalayim, is Ihr Hakodesh, makes it the best city in my book. After Yerushalayim, anywhere in E”Y would rank ahead of anything in CH”L.
November 21, 2011 3:48 pm at 3:48 pm #829193ZosHaTorahParticipantPrague – just spectacular architecture
Stockholm – an amazing “old city”
Barcelona – such an easy-going pace of life there
Ouray, Colorado – most beautiful “town” in the US. Spectacular scenery

November 21, 2011 4:23 pm at 4:23 pm #829195yungerman1ParticipantVenice is beautiful, and I hear that Amsterdam (aside from the shmutz) is as well.

November 21, 2011 5:12 pm at 5:12 pm #829197✡onegoal™Participantapushatayid- I agree with you. There is no place like the old city.
November 21, 2011 5:25 pm at 5:25 pm #829198popa_bar_abbaParticipantBest= Has highest Gross Product. NYC (I assume).
November 21, 2011 5:35 pm at 5:35 pm #829199kfbParticipantI don’t know about Yerushalayim being the best city in the World. Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely the holiest and there are fun things to do there, but it does get boring after a while. Ben Yehuda is fun but for how long. I think New York and Miami are the best cities in the World. There’s soo much to do there
November 21, 2011 6:11 pm at 6:11 pm #829200tzaddiqMemberI have visited wonderful kehillos world wide and have my most favorite ones that I would like to share.
-There is no doubt any city in E”Y is special and holy, ranking #1 on my list.
-I spent a beautiful week in Venice, and fell in love with it.
-My cross country excursion 2 summers ago brought me to cities such as Atlanta, and Dallas which I will never forget.
-But my all time favorite city is Montreal, which has a warm heimish kehilla with a touch of European flavor that made up one of my best Shabbosim, and ranks as my top best cities.
November 21, 2011 6:20 pm at 6:20 pm #829201zahavasdadParticipantI didnt see any Schmutz in Venice , jews were never kicked out of Venice (They were ghettoized there, but never kicked out) and Chabad is strong there.
November 21, 2011 6:53 pm at 6:53 pm #829202ToiParticipantzdad- your saying why it shouldnt rank?
November 21, 2011 7:30 pm at 7:30 pm #829203zahavasdadParticipantVenice just happens to be my favorite city

BoroParkgirl – I never would have guessed 😉
To me ‘Best city’ is a city i would consider moving to, if I had to move from my city. Taking into account: friends, family, type of people living there, weather, level of crimes, etc.

a number of points to bring up
1. what makes something the “best” in your eyes? (holiest can be considered the best to some people)
2. Miami gets boring after a while too (live there for a while you’ll get bored, give it a month
personally I would say Yerushalayim also
November 22, 2011 4:24 am at 4:24 am #829213BaalHaboozeParticipantcoffee addict: +1
if your looking for fun, kfb, go to Vegas or Disneyland. Why does best city necessarily have to mean entertainment?
November 22, 2011 5:26 am at 5:26 am #829214ronrsrMemberCucamonga. If you tire of the sights, you can have fun just saying the name.
November 22, 2011 5:43 am at 5:43 am #829215hockaroundtheclockMemberWho are we kidding, we’re all going to end up in Lakewood eventually, and it has the best learning, so that makes it the best![out-of-towners and harrys calm down, this is sarcasm]
