Is it right to block the (narrow) street while waiting for someone who is about to pull out of a parking spot that you are waiting for?
Should I wait, blocking traffic behind me, when someone is attempting to parallel park?
You have a right to park. Traffic should wait as you are getting into or out of a parking spot.

Do you want to wait until nightfall to park? Well, at that point yuou find a spot anymore.
It’s great to be a nice guy. I used to try. That was until I decided to let a guy pass before backing in, and he zoomed right in to the spot I held off going into, for his sake!

Just make sure that you don’t hold up the traffic for to long.
People have appointments and emergencies, blocking traffic for to long is selfish.
People are honking at you the second you start backing in, since they can’t pass.
Its not ur problem ppl have no patience to wait. If u can wait 2 minutes its nice. If u will never get a chance to get in cuz there will always b cars, then please park without guilt! Honking is rude and it doesnt mean ur a *beep* it just means they dont have very good middos.

Absolutely true.
Now if someone has to pass because someone is laboring in the back seat, thats different. Thats usually not the case. Although you wouldnt know by the chorus of beeping in BP- thats how it got its name- BP.
It depends on how hard it is to find a spot.
I could not find a spot once at the Franklin Institute parking garage, and it was bumper to bumper in there, at a snails crawl, one lane going one way.
After what seemed like hours (maybe 25 mins in real life), we were all honking our horns at other cars who stopped to wait for a spot, once I saw a family getting into their van, of course, taking their sweet time getting all squared away, I stopped and waited for that spot. Others honked away, but too bad, I was getting that spot.
I guess it’s a situational situation.
