    There has been a phenomenon of people getting meat boards. Did people even really like it or they just had it to be cool? My sources tell me that there is now special fish boards. What’s going on these days? During covid everyone said that they will cut down on expensive chasunas etc. what happened to that? I was recently by a crazy chasunah where millions was spent. What should I tell my mispallim? This has come to an extent where Purim time when my ballie batim come to my mesiba I will feel embarrassed if I don’t have any meat boards (or fish boards). Hashem yerichem!

    Are you a rabbi of a shul?

    Seems that you’re having an issue being a rabbi you can’t tell them what you’re saying here? Are you scared they will fire you or not listen to what you’re saying? Even if these two points are true and it’s very sad if it is. Why would you be scared at your Purim party if you don’t have these fish and meat boards. You’re just having what you can afford and want at your party and if someone asks you where is the boards then they have an issue and you should just shut them down and they shouldn’t be allowed to join your parties. Who asks a rabbi what they have at their party obviously you can’t afford it you don’t have it and if you can then maybe you don’t want it. It seems the whole community you’re a rabbi for is not letting you say what should be fixed and you’re even scared for your coming Purim party! Good luck!

    @commonSaychel
    Thank you,
    I have been reading since shloshim for Mrs. CTL ended, but there has been little to actually comment upon.
    I have long made known my resistance to excess in entertaining costs, etc. Especially by those who go into debt to do so.
    This morning in shul, one of the regulars had yahrzeit for his father. After davening and the Rav’s daily vort, he put a bottle on his table, with some plastic shot glasses, opened a package of cookies and we regulars all had a drink and a cookie in his father’s memory/honor. No fish, breads, cheeses, cakes, caterer, etc. We acknowledged the occasion and went on with our day.
    This was just as meaningful as a lavish sit down breakfast, shared with the regulars who attend day in/day out, not those who find out there will be a spread and show up.

    @CTL, the Rosh Hakahal or the Rav would once in a while being a tub of herring and egg kichel if it was an important Yarhreit.

    A meat board is the local kashrus organization that certifies ritual slaughter.
