    tonight’s my hebrew b’day and i told my friend i want to give her a bracha. problem is, shes in a car. is a bracha valid via text? second choice is calling her. tomorrow when she is not in the car.

    ideas? comments? opinions?

    you can only give a bracha on the night of your birthday? I thought that the entire birthday she can give brachos!

    22nd Adar is a good day, becaue it too is my cousin’s Bas-Mitzwah.

    It also is a bad day or maybe not, as this is 7th Yohrzeit of the previous pope, who was there for 26 & 1/2 years.

    A text is certainly better than nothing; Just like Nichum Aveilim & Bikur Cholim must be done in person; But assuming this is not an option, certainly texting is better than nothing.

    As for your question, if reasonable possibility that you may forget to call her tomorrow, text her right now.

    Give her a bracha anyway by text. What do you have to lose?

    If it’s effective, then she has the bracha. If it’s not, you’ve (and she’s) lost nothing except the cost of the text message.

    You can always re-give the bracha again when you see her in person.

    Just say the brocha out loud even if she doesn’t get to hear it. I dont think texting or calling would make it any better.

    Give her a bracha wherever and whenever. The Ribbono Shel Olam can hear you wherever you are, no matter where your friend is.

    here goes:

    may HKB’H grant you hatzlacha in all endeavors. may you find your zivug/bashert at the right time and the right person. a bracha for simcah in life and mazal in everything. if a yeshuah is needed (ch”v) may it come quickly and may all problems be smoothed out.

    sorry to mess up the conversation.

    however I hate it (no, I dont cringe..) when someon sends a text message personnaly wishing/inviting everyone.

    There is nothing less personal thatn that!

    2scents, i agree its not personal but i would rather get a mass text/email inviting me than getting no invite at all

    (blame this view on the fact i never see anyone so all updates i get are via some sort of technology)
