I want to begin a discussion on a subject that I recently got into a heated argument about with a fellow at shul the other shabbos. I feel that Brooklyn Ir Ha Kodesh is equal in kedusha to Yerushelayim Ir Ha Kodesh. I feel that a Jew is absolutely CHAYIV GAMOR to live in Brooklyn if it is possible just as a Jew should live in Eretz Yisroel. I feel that the wall of Chaim Berlin is equal to the Kotel although each Jew could choose their own “Brooklyn Kotel”. I have absolutely no need to go to Eretz Yisroel because there is no need to when I already live in a holy land! For a Jew to go live out of town where there is no TRUE Torah culture, ie.. no knishes, no hat stores, no holy Jews hocking in the heimish streets, no heimish cars rushing to do mitzvos, is absolutely unforgivable! Also, I feel that every Jew is CHAYIV GAMOR to go to the Catskills for the summer, Eretz Yisroel II. I feel that a major problem in klal yisroel today is a new trend to run from true kedusha and go to out of town cities and hick towns for “quiet” “peaceful” living. How could these people be true Torah Jews in these goyish tumah towns??!! How could they be true torah Jews without being able to walk down the block for a knish or pizza or to buy your latest black hat??!! Help me out here everyone!!!
