I heard incredible things about camp simcha and camp simcha special. Does anyone know the difference between the two? I would possibly like to volunteer. Any info would be appreciated 🙂

I am pretty sure that Camp Simcha is for campers w/ cancer and other terminal illnesses… Simcha Special is more for campers with handicaps…

I did both Camp simcha and camp simcha special. Camp simcha is mostly for kids ranging from 5 until 20 with different types of cancers or those recovering or in remission. They are usually more active and the camp is upbeat with them, going on trips and having upbeat activities. They try to make these campers feel special and have the times of their lives, although living in such hardships.

Camp Simcha special is a camp with kids in the same age range with many different handicaps. My kid, for example had cerebreal palsy and was confined to a wheelchair, not able to move his muscles properly. It is toned down compared to camp simcha, because of the camper’s handicaps, but still upbeat. The goal is to give the campers the times of their lives but to make them feel normal at the same time.
