can he arrest or ticket other jews for non-halachic crimes? speeding by going 70mph instead of 55mph on highway to catch a minyan for example? can he show disrespect to a kohen if he is not a kohen by arresting him or ticketing him?

    #of course,

I see no reason why not!

All these laws are made for our safety.

So, even if a man is running late to a minyan and above the limit, that’s not called miseras nefesh, it’s called endangering other nefashos.

    #simple as that.

#I happen to know a couple Jewish policemen, all doing their jobs like they should.

And just cuz’ someone’s a kohen, doesn’t exempt him from following laws of the country they live in, unless it goes against our torah, which it doesn’t.

I don’t see why that is a non-halachic crime. Risking your life and the lives of others to catch a minyan is at best a mitzvah ha-ba b’aveirah!

Absolutely not. An officer is the janitor of police hierarchy. Obviously not every jew can be a commissioner, but at a minimum must be at least a lieutenant.

What about going 70 on the Pallisades, is that also ‘risking your life’?
