In the Artscroll “Pirkei Avos Treasury” they bring a story on the mishnah “All Israel has a share in Olam Haba.” Someone asked the Chofetz Chaim if all Jews have a share in Olam Haba, why should they do Torah and mitzvos, since anyway they are guaranteed a share in Olam Haba. The Chofetz Chaim answered that it is analogous to a factory owner paying everyone, regardless of what they actually produced in the factory. But the one who did no work will have to sheepishly answer, when asked what he did in the factory, “I took a check.” Is this story mentioned anywhere in the Chofetz Chaim’s seforim or letters? And if so, which one? I know it is found in Moshe Yoshor’s Hebrew biography of the Chofetz Chaim, but I would like to know if it is found in any of the Chofetz Chaim’s seforim or letters that he wrote.

This is called by the holy Zohar nehameh dekesufa, bread of shame. That is the reason why the neshama comes to this world to earn its keep and not get a free handout.

For the CR gematria fans, the numerical value of the LAST letter in each of the words of
“כל ישראל יש להם חלק לעלם הבא” is 541….the SAME as the numerical value of the letters in the word .
Having affirmed the inclusiveness of Olam Haboh, it is important to remind oneself of a few caveats. First, not all chelekim are equal. It is reasonable to assume that a true tzadik may have access to a larger share in a more upscale neighborhood than a poishete yid with a lesser spiritual resume. Second, although we all begin life with a chelek, it is ours to retain or lose depending on how we live our lives. A true rashah may never even get past the malachim in the OB Coop Committe, much less qualify for even a basement efficiency unit.

The truth is, if someone is פורק עול תורה ומצוות, rest assured he has no chelek

541 is the same as gematria of the word ישראל. Some interpret it as the chelek alokai mimaal, neshama that brings one tם the next world and we need the cooperation of all Jews, כהן, לוי, ישראל. The Chasan Sofer explains that one can feel the taste of olam habo, the next world in this world as shabbos and other mitzvos and that is the meaning of yesh over yihyeh besides the shay, 310 worlds.

Reb Eliezer, the Chasan Sofer or the Chasam Sofer?

My Rosh Yeshivah, Rav Chaim Boruch Wolpin zt”l, told me, but I forget in whose name, that there is a “chelek” in Oilam Haba, and there is a “ben” Oilam Haba. A ben Oilam Haba can ask for any chelek he wants, unlike someone who has just a chelek. He compared it to a guest at a meal versus the host’s son at the same meal. The son can ask for whatever portion he wants.

While all Yidden may have a reservation at the Hilton Garden (of Eden) Inn. Some may end up in the room next to the ice machine for eternity.

For someone straddling the low rent district of olam habah and gehenom (which the goyim associate with global warming), being next to the ice machine may not be such a bad strategy

there is definitely a difference in Olam Haboh real estate:
In Taanit 25, R Elazar b Pedat complained to Hashem about his health in his dream, was offered to reverse the world so that he can start again with a possibility (not certainty) of better life, he passed this chance and as a reward was offered 13 rivers of pure balsam oil. (True to his nature of complaining?) he asked for more, but Hashem replies that this would be a problem of other tzadikim (who apparently would then also request raises, leading to grade inflation and shortage of balsam oil).

They say that there is an air conditioner in the gehinom but it does not work and it cannot be fixed.

Reb E. Hopefully, all CR posters will have access to a certified HVAC contractor

Gadol, I understand that the heavenly HVAC provider only services those who led a proper life.

Not a problem….I have a long-term service contract and will still be within the warranty period (at least for the cooling system). The furnace, however, may not meet the new energy efficiency standards so I’m at risk.
