Aside from the kehuna and leviya and in other times malchus, there generally has not been any special designations for Jews. Yet, chassidim have created dynasties, which as far as I can tell, originated because a group designated a chasid they revered as there leader. But is there anything intrinsically special about a chassishe dynassty other than its followers continue them. I see simcha announcements listing lineage, but really as a non-chassid, I don’t see the specialness of every rebbe from every small shtetl. Any thoughts>

They were just lucky that their great great great (…) grandfather was a ruthless warmonger know as William the Conqueror, later known as William I, king of England (Year 1066).
We hope that the people born into situations like these will be great leaders, but unfortunately for the followers it’s not always the case.

I don’t understand the entire bloodline stuff.
February 27, 2015 4:01 pm at 4:01 pm #1061839zahavasdadParticipantFYI the Queen of England is actually powerless and basically a ceromonial position. The Kings and Queens of England were basically stripped of their powers in 1689 for the gloriuos revolution.
And I am not so sure Queen Elizabeth is a direct decendent of William the Conqueror either. There have been breaks in the monarchy and there was a civil war in england in the 15th century (War of the Roses)
February 27, 2015 4:10 pm at 4:10 pm #1061840ubiquitinParticipantZDad after the War of the Roses the Families of York and Lancaster merged to form the Tudors. Both of which were direct descendents of William the Conqurer. Considering all the inbreeding in that family, Elizabeth is a direct descendent among several different lines (Obviously not “ben acher ben”)

She is also an exemplary example, having been married for over 67 years, since November 1947.

Menasseh was the son of Hilkiyahu

The current Bobov Rebbe shlita HoRav Ben-Zion Halberstam shlita this Tuesday is in office exactly 1 Decade. We wish him many more decades of his wonderful leadership.
