July 6, 2012 4:15 pm at 4:15 pm #883963TheGoqParticipantChicagoans can withstand extreme weather they will not wilt like the soft east coasters. (yes i realize am inciting the majority of posters here ha ha)
July 6, 2012 4:21 pm at 4:21 pm #883964Doodle-Man™MemberWhere’d you get the Zarkas?

July 6, 2012 4:31 pm at 4:31 pm #883966Rav TuvParticipantChicago is freezing with this windchill.
July 6, 2012 4:46 pm at 4:46 pm #883967postsemgirlMemberNice one Goq
I walked into the Dunkin Donuts on Devon and asked for a coffee and they couldn’t believe that I wanted a hot one.
Make sure your air conditioning works!!
Have a good Shabbos.
July 6, 2012 4:50 pm at 4:50 pm #883968Feif UnParticipantYahoo weather is showing 96 now in Chicago, with an expected high of 98. Then it’s supposed to start cooling off tomorrow, with it getting to a high of 80 on Sunday. Where did you get 113 from?
In my part of NJ, they’re saying a high of 104 tomorrow.
July 6, 2012 4:56 pm at 4:56 pm #883969🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantBH- 113 with the heat index, really it’s only a mere 103. I just finished my coffee but a case of freeze pops would be nice. Hashem extended the heat wave another day so shabbos afternoon freeze pops and cold cholent may be on the menu. If anyone has any good menu ideas that dont involve ovens I’ open!
July 6, 2012 4:58 pm at 4:58 pm #883970choppyParticipantAre there really frum Jews in Chicago??
July 6, 2012 5:12 pm at 5:12 pm #883971yummy cupcakeMembersorry goq. i for one cannot stand this heat. i melt. drinking lemonade and water and snacking on ice cream just doesn’t help. its awful. there is no air to breathe. yesterday in the shade it was 107! not normal…. and goq i’m not new to the area- i’ve been here almost 21 years!
July 6, 2012 6:51 pm at 6:51 pm #883972TheGoqParticipantIts ok YC i was just pokin some fun at New Yorkers and old habit of mine even though ive lived in New York over a dozen years now, no offense intended i am not a fan of the heat either.
July 6, 2012 6:53 pm at 6:53 pm #883973Rav TuvParticipantI don’t know about you Chicagoans, but my thermometer clearly indicates 37 degrees.
July 6, 2012 7:06 pm at 7:06 pm #883974☕️coffee addictParticipant1) I thought this was a post about the miami heat moving to chicago
2) i was just pokin some fun at New Yorkers and old habit of mine
MINE TOO we MUST be related
July 6, 2012 7:11 pm at 7:11 pm #883975Rav TuvParticipantOf course my thermometer is Celsius. But 37 sounds so much better than 100.
July 6, 2012 8:52 pm at 8:52 pm #883976🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantIf I cant take the heat on an erev shabbos, what do I do to get out of the kitchen?
July 6, 2012 9:33 pm at 9:33 pm #883978gefenParticipantYummy: you mentioned that you’ve been here almost 21 yrs. That makes you sound like you’re so much older.
So here’s a clarification for the CR:
SHE MOVED HERE WHEN SHE WAS A FEW MONTHS OLD. I should know. I was with her. 😉
Syag: mmmmm- cold cholent. sounds delish! i don’t even make cholent in this weather. btw: ur daughter looks amazing. saw her twice today.

July 9, 2012 4:27 pm at 4:27 pm #883993TheGoqParticipantSyag how could you? is it wimpy to cling to a team that hasnt won in 106 years? is it wimpy to always say theres always next year? such loyalty is hard to find, hope springs eternal for cubs fans we have endured and will see them raise the championship banner in our lifetime!
July 9, 2012 9:23 pm at 9:23 pm #883994🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantOh Goq, I am so sorry. I couldn’t help it. It is wired into my brain that way and just burst forth on its own when I saw that post. I have been hiding under the kitchen table ever since I wrote it for fear of the neighbors.

Even if that was what I meant, I would never say it. I would never use “that” when referring to people. “That” is for things. “Who” is for people.
