I kid you not. I have between 4-5 a day. And yes, a number of years ago it was about 10. So I made some progress there….

I don’t think coffee has any effect on me anymore. I think it just keeps the coffee levels of my blood stable.

    #938640

The coffee room is all the coffee I can handle. I stick with the caffeine pills.

Same here, coffee no longer has an effect on me. I usually just drink it for the taste.

i’ve seen many coffee addicts break their addiction. It is possible!! And you won’t be a wreck every taanis. I also know a current caffeine addict. As in i’d guess 15 cups a day. Ugh

    fkelly:

Regular coffee is a lot healthier than decaf. The decaf coffee goes through a lot of processing.

There’s nothing really unhealthy with regular coffee.

I don’t 20 cups of anything is healthy!

And just for the record, everyone says coffee stunts your growth but as a kid I had coffee every morning and I’m quite tall!

    Dear fkelly,

So the only complaint that you’re aware of with coffee is that it stunts your growth. And you yourself defied that. Right? No doctor will tell you that coffee is unhealthy.

Coffee for kids is another story. I personally would never give coffee to kids (I don’t really know why, I just wouldn’t) probably because it will make them irritable.

    For adults though, it’s great.

    ditto on that one, fkelly

    #938658

So then why is it unhealthy for adults after they stopped growing?

    #938659

I drink about four or five (large) cups of brewed coffee per day, plus the occasional decaf.

The question is, does anyone know of an inexpensive ground roast which tastes good? I’ve splurged on Gevalia, but I’d like to economize. Folgers Gourmet was horrible; I imagine the regular is worse. I tried the Kirkland Signature World Blend – I returned it. Chock Full O’ Nuts is not bad, but does anyone know of something better?

Maybe Taster’s Choice French Roast. (brown container. not red)

    #938661

The Taster’s Choice French Roast in particular tastes a lot like brewed coffee. IMHO the Folgers, all of them are awful. It’s almost as bad as drinking dirty water.

Did you try Maxwell House? There’s also Starbucks, you know.

Wait a second! I didnt say that was the only unhealthy thing about coffee! I was just saying that even though people say it stunts growth… But think about it- do you honestly think its not unhealthy to drink 20 cups of caffeine a day?

    fkelly:

I don’t think I drink 20 cups of caffeine in a day. I also don’t think it’s terribly unhealthy, or simply unhealthy for that matter. I am only aware of 2 problems with coffee. One is not even applicable to adults. I will list them for your reference:

    1) It is said to stunt growth (in children)

    2) It’s a bladder irritant. (When consumed in large amounts)

The above issues are not very problematic health-wise.

To fkelly and all other folks that don’t appreciate a good Cup O’ Joe:

This thread is for people who enjoy drinking coffee. If you don’t find yourself to be in this particular group, feel free to open your own support group on a different thread.

We think that coffee improves our quality of life. We also like the taste of it. We very much appreciate the fact that it perks us up and helps us to get through the day.

So, please be so kind and let us enjoy it without having to think too much about it.

    Thanking you kindly,

Sharp, I’m not talking instant. on another thread, I opined that Starbucks Via is the best, and TCFR is second.

I’m referring to brewable ground coffee. No, I haven’t tried Maxwell House (do they make non-instant?). If I do, do i get a free Haggadah?

DaasYochid, Maxwell House makes brew-able ground coffee. Give it shot.

As far as a free Haggadah goes, I regret to inform you that I’m not handing out any. But I do give free coffee for the asking. And you definitely qualify for a free pot of the coffee of your choice.

So experiment and let me know which coffee to prepare for you.

Hey!Me too!! Too bad about those free Haggados though, would’ve broken my record of “more haggados than I can ever count”.

I will bl”n try the Maxwell House, after I finish my awful Folgers. If I remember, I’ll let you know how it is. It’ll be some time after Pesach (since I won’t get the Haggadah anyway) ๐Ÿ™ .

DaasYochid: Are you seriously planning on finishing your Folgers? Well then, after Folgers anything is delightful.

But seriously, Maxwell House is a lot better.

You will get a pot of coffee though, so don’t stress the Haggadah ๐Ÿ˜‰
