So I’ve compiled a list of terms I see in the coffee room that I don’t understand. Feel free to add.

    1) bump

    2) trolling

    3) closed (when a thread is closed)

    4) sticky (when a thread is sticky

also what tricks can one do with their posts, and how do you do them?

    i.e. a)italics b)bold c)subtitles

    I’d rather subtract.

    “Bump”

When a thread is posted in, it moves to the top of the

front page. Bumping is posting in a thread for the sake

of that effect, in order to bring attention to the thread.

    “Trolling”

To troll is to write insincerely

in the hope of getting a reaction from people.

A troll is someone who does this.

(Posts that are obviously false or insincere are

sometimes made on the CR for the sake of humor,

and this is also referred to here as “trolling.”)

    “Closed”

A closed thread cannot be posted in.

Only a moderator (or “mod”) can close threads (or give subtitles).

    “Sticky”

A sticky thread is one that is kept (“stuck”) at the top of a board.

(There are currently a few more than usual.)

    “Tricks?”

    I’m

    afraid

    I

    don’t

    know

    any.

    Just kidding.

    Italics = Italics

    Bold = Bold

    Link = Link

You can also link like this (check out the thread):

    http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/we-are-new

(When linking this way, you don’t have to type the

    http://” – it’ll appear by itself.)

Quotation
=

    Quotation

text
(or just backticks – the key above Tab)

lets you type things like without it having an effect.

(Text typed this way uses a different font, one in which all

characters take up the same amount of space on a line.)

Most or all of the above can be combined. Example:

    Bold+Italic = Bold+Italic

Oh, and you should know about the EDIT button if you’re

going to be trying this stuff out. It’s at the bottom

of your post, and will let you change what you’ve written

for 25 minutes after you first post it.

    Have fun!

    1) to revive a dormant thread by posting

    2) to start a controversial thread just for kicks

    3) when the Mods deem a thread to be no longer useful or to prevent further argument.

    4) a thread that the Editor/Mods want you to always have access to

I thought you were going to ask about terms like Harry and tuna bagel. Now those are manly terms worth asking about!

Either you telepathically manipulate them or they do it on their own.

Talking about [sticky], I think the [sticky] section is getting a bit full. (Sorry Froggie!)
