Responding to GOP ‘respinse’ to Dems. push to remove MTG from committees, GOP suggested it will push for Omar the same.

From the moderate voices at lefty CNN, SE Cupp stated today something like this.

She denounced all anti semitues, whether from the right or from the left. Abd that antisemitism on the left us real BDS bigotry us real. But…
The difference is, (Cupp says) that Dems. were quick to denounce her and Onar retracted and apologized and the resolution was passed denouncing such things, BECAUSE of that.
Whereas MTG hasn’t… though McConnell to his credit did demounce loony theories as a danger to the GOP.

    ___
    My humble 2 cents…
    Both are horrific.
One might suggest that anti-Jewish tropes -pushing when masked under “fighting for Arab “pestinians” cloak can be more dangerous than loony laughable ‘bankers in space sphere’ delusions.

The left didn’t condemn Omar’s antisemitic statement. They are worse.

    From WashingtonExaminer Feb.3.21:

The media doesn’t care. I could put out the most beautiful statement ever written, and I could cure cancer at the same time, and they would not report it,” said Greene.

My question, while laughing, is: what is her idea of “beautiful statement”? Lol. Or does she admit/realize finally inadvertently that she made wrong statements before?

Diane Feinstein and Chuck Schumer both condemned Omar’s statements as anti-Semitic, as did multiple left wing news sources. Omar apologized and in the several years since has mostly been quiet about Israel.

Greene never even acknowledged her comment, forget apologizing. And although she was condemned by right and left wing media, there was only a few murmurs from her GOP compatriots.

Greene has at least two fundamental problems: 1 – anti-Semitism, and 2 – she thinks Jews control lasers in outer space. Omar has only one: anti-Semitism, which she denies, thinking that her opposition to the State of Israel and support of a Palesinian state are not anti-Semitic. Omar’s problem is grounded in the real world. Greene’s problem is in outer space.

And speaking of Jews and lasers, the only person I know who actually does research on lasers, and controls them, is a Jew and Israeli. Hmmmm ….

“The left didn’t condemn Omar’s antisemitic statement. ”

I guess Pelosi, Hoyer, Clyburn, Luján, Jeffries, and Katherine Clark aren’t part of “the left”. It is nice to finally have someone on this site acknowledge that. Here is the statement that they put out about Omar, two years ago next week:

“Anti-Semitism must be called out, confronted and condemned whenever it is encountered, without exception.

“We are and will always be strong supporters of Israel in Congress because we understand that our support is based on shared values and strategic interests. Legitimate criticism of Israel’s policies is protected by the values of free speech and democratic debate that the United States and Israel share. But Congresswoman Omar’s use of anti-Semitic tropes and prejudicial accusations about Israel’s supporters is deeply offensive. We condemn these remarks and we call upon Congresswoman Omar to immediately apologize for these hurtful comments.

“As Democrats and as Americans, the entire Congress must be fully engaged in denouncing and rejecting all forms of hatred, racism, prejudice and discrimination wherever they are encountered.”

Thank you, charlieha II, for finding and posting a Democratic response to Omar’s anti-Semitic comments.

Radicalism is growing in both sides of the political spectrum and unfortunately both types are infused with anti-semitism. That’s why you should seriously consider coming to EY.

The Denocrats wirh 11 Republicans voted to bar MTG from commitees. The excuse is that the Republican Party is a big tent but I would not want to bring something that stinks into it.

To be fair, Dems. did protest Omar at the time. It was the radical (apologetic for fascist Islamic Republic of Iran, and the brutal Syrian regimes) Glenn Greenwald who supported Omar.. the same confused radical who promoted hateful cartoons… see: Why Glenn Greenwald is wrong about Charlie Hebdo, anti-Semitic cartoons, and satire | by Aryeh Cohen-Wade | Medium. Jan 20, 2015).

Nevertheless. It should be made clear that there is no reason to think Omar or other racists will cease anti-Jewish drive particularly in anti-Israelism arena, once/if Arabs get one more Republic under the Arab “palestinians”…

    “Omar apologized”

I don’t believe her apology. It came after Pelosi apparently twisted her arm into a pretzel. She still refused to vote to ban BDS. I contributed to her primary opponent last year. But at least she went through the motions, unlike Marjorie Taylor-Greene.

Only 11 Republicans voted to kick her off her committees.

Schumer on Omar, also February 11, 2019, via Twitter:

“Rep. Omar’s use of an anti-Semitic stereotype was offensive and irresponsible.

This kind of intolerance has no place in Congress—or anywhere in American society.

No one should invoke anti-Semitic tropes during policy disagreements.”

I’m not sure why you think an insincere apology has value, but either way, MTG also apologized. Probably equally insincere.

I agree with you posters, Onar’s apology was a tactic, nothing from her hateful heart.

On a footnote / a lighter note..I’d like to be makirTov to whoever invented her abbr. Imagine if we had to type her whole name, again and again…even if she herself invented this mtg short code. After all, we are supposed to be makirTov even for Mitzrayim for the positive part… לא תתעב מצרי, כי גר היית בארצו

“She still refused to vote to ban BDS.”

My bad. There was never a vote to ban BDS which would be unconstitutional anyway; with very limited exceptions people have a right to boycott pretty much anything they want to boycott and nobody can be forced into particular investments. The vote was simply to condemn BDS and she even voted against that!

Here is the text of Omar’s “apology”:

“Anti-Semitism is real, and I am grateful for Jewish allies and colleagues who are educating me on the painful history of anti-Semitic tropes. My intention is never to offend my constituents or Jewish Americans as a whole. We have to always be willing to step back and think through criticism, just as I expect people to hear me when others attack me for my identity. This is why I unequivocally apologize.

At the same time, I reaffirm the problematic role of lobbyists in politics, whether it be AIPAC, the NRA, or the fossil fuel industry. It’s gone on too long and we must be willing to address it.”

She equivocated after saying she was unequivocal.

MTG spoke for ten minutes, much of which was defending herself, and she didn’t even address some of the absolutely outrageous stuff she has done. It is an even less convincing “apology” than Omar’s.

Charliehall. Kudos to Germany for its ruling against BDS . May-’19.

    BTW
Neo nazis are very prominent into bds. Google-ing: “bds swastikas” is alarming.

    Haha.

Racist Omar: “whether it be AIPAC, the NRA, or the fossil fuel industry…”
Here is in a nutshell Omar / Tlaib… shpiel…ugly propaganda.
Posing as leftists only to hit at Jews. And craftily sneaking it into an umbrella of “liberalism” say the two fake progressives / true devoted mohamedeans.

Oh Charlie, -“Here is the statement that they put out about Omar, two years ago next week: Etc”

    Yes, they called out Omar.
But they said nothing about R. Tilab.
    From the hill.com:
“And I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that, right? … But they did it in a way that took their human dignity away and it was forced on them.”
It seems that only Republicans called out her Lies.
The Arabs living in EY, fought tooth & nail against the Medina.
It’s so Hypocritical – the Lib posters here – when it comes to bashing the Frumme against the Medina – they stand up for the Medina. When a Palestinian Lies about the Medina, they don’t say a word!

The problem is that House Democrats have not denounced other antisemites.
There was no censure or reprimand of Hank Johnson, who called Jews living in Yesha “termites.”
They continue to associate with Farrakhan, Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton.
Why did the Democrats not disavow Trayon White, the DC Councilman who claimed the Rothschilds control the weather, the World Bank and US government?
Why did they elect a minister who accused Israel of apartheid to the Senate in GA?
