June 13, 2011 8:52 pm at 8:52 pm #776788WolfishMusingsParticipantThe good news — I graduated with my Master’s Degree a three weeks ago.
The bad news — I got a letter from the NYC Board of Ed stating that my kindergarten teacher was never properly licensed. As a result, my pre-school graduation has been voided. Since I never graduated pre-school, I was never properly enrolled in elementary school. As a result, my graduation from there has also been voided. Likewise from high school, college and my Master’s program.
I report for kindergarten in September.

Bpt- Sad but true. Ppl change once they come out of school and grad pictures do little justice.
June 13, 2011 9:31 pm at 9:31 pm #776790bptParticipant” I report for kindergarten in September.”
Bummer. Still, with a Masters, you should be able to color within the lines, so the do-over should be much easier than round 1.
Taking the vintage lunchbox, or getting a new one for the new zman?
Blinky – not only to grad pics not tell the true story, even the 15 second soundbite your teachers give about you, is only a fraction of the story.
We insist on a visual. Does not need to be a face to face (which would be nice, but not a sticking point) but before we start doing any inquiries, we need to see the person. Could be in shul, could be at a vort, a chasseneh, but in has to be realtime. And if the other side has any savvy, they’ll insist (and get) the same from our end.
That way, there are fewer surprises.

Well, I won’t have the Master’s because it’s being revoked. But you are correct that it should be easier this time around.

Neither. I’m having whatever the school serves.

June 13, 2011 10:19 pm at 10:19 pm #776792minyan galMemberWolf: Mazel Tov for being accepted into kindergarten. I hope your family has assach naches from you in your chosen course of studies. I also hope that they give you a “cubby” with a high hook so you don’t strain your back when hanging up your jacket. I also hope that you have a pair of mittens attached to each other with a long string so that they go through your sleeves and you won’t lose them. You may spend the balance of the summer labeling all of your sweaters and other school supplies. Please let us know when you get to Dick and Jane (whoops, I think that is first grade).
June 13, 2011 10:32 pm at 10:32 pm #776793WolfishMusingsParticipantyour chosen course of studies
Thank you for the kind thoughts and suggestions, but I did not “choose” to have all my academic achievements voided.

Actually, it’s really a must for every* four and five year old, not for every kindergartener. If you take a kid that age anywhere, you bring along a change of pants — not just to school.

* Yeah, I’m sure there are exceptions. You know what I meant.

I suppose it wasn’t in Language and Grammar Studies.
June 14, 2011 4:05 am at 4:05 am #776799☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWolf,
Good news. It turns out that the person working for the NYC Board of Ed who sent you that letter was actually a student of that kindergarten teacher who carried a grudge. Since the teacher’s license was revoked, the NYC Board of Ed retroactively nullified all of that worker’s actions.

June 14, 2011 7:25 am at 7:25 am #776804YW Moderator-42ModeratorWolf, getting accepted to kindergarten is as hard as getting into ivy leauge schools nowadays. I assume that most good frum schools would never accept someone who is as big a sinner as you. Does this mean that you are going to a goyish kindergarten?
