Is it normal for someone to be constantly losing umbrellas?
if it’s black and you bought it for cheap, yes.
one of the better investments/purchases i ever did was buy a good sturdy wind-proof umbrella. have it for five years now, is good as new.

Only men lose umbrellas cuz they sit around in Bais Medrash and then forget to take take the umbrella home, because by the time they leave Shul, it already stopped raining.
Women are more responsible 🙂

Get a white ink permanent marker and write your name and tel number on the inside somewhere. Someone might call you to return it.

i think umbrellas should be assured coz some of them are very flashy and people will look at them

This is only good if you only bring it to Jewish places, like when you hang up your coat. How many people have never had a coat switched or lost? I’ve had my Lulav and bag taken and the one I have in return isn’t even the same. Close, but pretty obvious it’s different.
I wouldn’t put my name and tel # on my umbrella. What if you lose it in Shoprite? Do you really want some low-life having this info?

They are bigger waste of money than losing them. They always break. You can’t even lose them that fast. Buy Totes – It Never breaks. I paid 13 bucks for my Totes.

Take it easy. Its not a bank account, credit card or soc sec number. Unless youre unlisted, everyone has access to your name and tel number. Better yet, if you put a cell number on the umbrella no one knows where you live, and you can go to a public place to claim it.
Truth be told somebody stole my umbrella in shul.

You sure it wasn’t a knockoff? The Totes are guaranteed for life. I lost my Totes in Shoprite and just bought another one. I still have at least two broken junk umbrellas -too bad I never lost those.
Health is right. I’ve have this teeny tiny little Totes umbrella that looks like it would go to pieces in the slightest gale – for three years. It’s like a super-umbrella. ^_^

Try getting a wide piece of white tape and wrap it around the handle and with a marker, a water proof marker, write, “REMEMBER”. This way, when you are using the umbrella, you will make an subconscious note to remind you not to forget it.
