Will the world ever get back to normal seeing how Israel which are the so called leaders of the pandemic are having cases surge up again and this is with the whole nation being vaccinated. So Is this going to happen worldwide and just remain in lockdown and depression forever? Bill Gates recently warned us of a new pandemic coming which we are not prepared for which will dwarf covid, but seems like we won’t be needing his new pandemic it looks like covid disruption is here to stay.

I guess you don’t listen to the news, or maybe you live in a red state. schools will forever remain on zoom, Biden will print more paper so no one goes back to work ever, masks will be mandated in all federal sites always and woe to anyone who dares not obey. well, not to worry, cuz you won’t be in all that many federal buildings, anyway….due to covid and out of concern for your health, nothing will be operating at normal activity anymore.

He’s fed up with these stupid leaders getting away with murder and not running the cities, states and countries normally with the convenienent excuse of covid-19. I understand exactly what he’s talking about with government federal and state buildings and offices shut-down and operating on a lower capacity when what took a day now takes weeks with no one to talk to on the phone and so you end up needing to wait even longer if there’s a document you were supposed to submit and did not because you had no clue that you had to submit it.
This stupidity is because the government is using your tax dollars for such stupid things they need to shut down the government partly and covid-19 is their convenient excuse. (That’s why I don’t understand how “Participants” supports the reparations of supposed “inheritance” for the blacks which will be one of the woke, out of control, spending things that will totally destroy the USA financially)
And the covid-19 craziness in Israel is a cover for those in power who want more power. Look how it’s turning out for them after forcing everyone to take shots and forcing business into closure for practically forever. And there are foreigners who can’t fake stuff like many do and they have no access to their own properties for the last 14-15 months. It’s insane.

Vaccines work. Those infected are by and large those who were not vaccinated. Those who were vaccinated and infected had, by and large, lower levels of sickness
Rightwqriter, actually this “wave” is very mild because of the vaccinations. The number of serious cases is stable at a mere 23-26. The positive test rate is less than 1%. Yesterday, the number of total cases dipped to 295 after being over 300 for a couple of days. No one has died in nine days. The mask mandate is only indoors (and there have been no reports of fines being handed out so either everyone is complying or the police are not rushing to enforce it) and there is no talk of a lockdown. COVID mutations will probably continue to be around but they will be no worse, and maybe not as bad, as flu viruses. The more people are vaccinated the less severe COVID will be.
Many of our parents were willing to impact our future health by having us injected with the poorly tested Salk polio vaccine.

Could you be more specific?? Vaccinated chassidim versus unvaccinated misnagdim or vice versa? Clearly, the secular are too busy with the next round of public health chumruahs to engage in battle over yesterday’s broigas.
On a serious note, the politicization of public health issues in both the U.S. and EY is a real tragedy that will cost many lives over the long term. Both sides are guilty to some degree with excessive and illogical regulatory demands from the left, arbitrary application of vague rules and pushback from the right in the name of “personal liberty” adding to an already polarized body politic. When the next real public health emergency emerges, its going to be virtually impossible to get widespread compliance and the consequences of that public distrust could be disastrous.
I asked our LOR if vaxxinated Jews are responsible to protect the unvaccinated by wearing masks like St. Louis, MO and he agreed with me that they are not as they have the responsibility to vaccinate themselves.
RebE, you can’t fully abandon caution. Oft-quoted vaccine efficiency is based on everything else being equal. If you previous did not spend long time in closed quarters with people, and now you do, then you did not decrease yours, and community’s, risk, you simply use vaccine to rescind restrictions. Still, do not spend prolonged time in unventilated closed spaces, esp with unvaccinated people. Furthermore, if you feel so negative towards them that you do not feel responsibility to protect them, then why bother spending time with them.
To push this logic further, does the LOR feel it is OK to have in his minyan people for whose health he does not want to be responsible? Would he daven for their health? or just sanity?
Gadol, you are right. It is a sad thing that destroys society from inside. Neither vaccine nor masks are right or left wing (I am skipping the virus itself until we find out what lab it came from). In US, israel, UK, France, governments were blamed for being too restrictive or too permissive, with opposition being against just because they see an opportunity. We just need not to get caught up in to this.
@rightwriter Why is getting a vaccine considered a “liberal” thing? Modern politics are so stupid. Everything is either Dem or Rep, lib or conservative. When did common sense become a political issue?
If the state governments in the US do not follow the advice of the CDC, the Covid pandemic will last far longer than if everybody did follow the CDC’s advice. Their advice is not perfect, and it is subject to change as they learn more about the virus, but they know the best way to control this virus and the related illnesses.
We change the composition of the flu vaccine annually through what is really an “informed guess” as to specific strains that might be the most prevalent 9 months in the future. Some years we achieve a relatively high 65–75 percent efficacy and other years its below 50 percent. The new Covid vaccines using the MRNA platform have achieved 90%+ efficacy and have shown high efficacy as new strains evolve. There will have to be tweeks to the booster shots just as we modify the flu shots annually using informed guesses as to which variants need to be protected against. Unlike business and school closures which have their own material adverse effects, there are virtually no down-sides to masking in combination with vaccination in high community transmission areas, unless of course, being unmasked becomes your symbol of resistance to the deep state and perverse desire to impose public health risks on yourself and others.

Recently, they first announced full unmasking without any caveat and are changing back only after delta is proven to be everywhere. With several countries on front of us on the same trajectory, they could have been more foresighted
