There ought to be simcha and Israeli dance classes for men. A lot of the time I find myself basically doing the yeshivish shuffle at weddings and on Simchat Torah. Likewise, there should be some instruction on impressive, but appropriate, wedding shtick.

Does anyone know of anybody who offers such classes to men? In addition to such a class helping us carry out the mitzvah of being mesameach the chatan and kallah, it would also promote health and wellness, as it would be a kosher and fun way for men to burn calories.

The chasan and kallah are much happier when their guests are real men who don’t take dancing lessons.

I think they’d be happier if there were dancing that was more sophisticated than the yeshivishe shuffle.

I’ll settle for not getting my feet stomped on every 5 minutes.

With simcha dancing classes, men can learn to dance so that you don’t get your feet stomped on.

apushatayid- be happy it’s not stilettos on your toes. I’ve come home from weddings with toes bleeding from other people misstepping by dancing.

    Yeshivishe shuffle? 😛

I was never taught to dance at simchas, (apparently the Israeli dance chugim passed me by) and for some reason, I just hate dancing the hora, so unless someone really strong grabs me by the arm and pulls me into a circle of dancing ladies, I just sit at the tables and help myself to the food and drink.

Judaism is a way of eating, not dancing. Get my drift? 🙂
