Lobby your Congressman and Senators for tough legislation to deport the illegals. A foreign lawbreaker does not belong in America. They broke our laws by illegally entering this nation, round them up and send them back to where they came from.
We have scores of people who immigrated legally, waited their turn, and to have those that cut the line, and came here illegally whilst others were patiently waiting to come here legally, is fundamentally unfair.
Enough with the illegal lawbreakers!

Whilst? That’s not American English. LOL.
December 19, 2010 12:15 am at 12:15 am #1211712popa_bar_abbaParticipantI also think we should deport them, but I don’t think we need to defend it with fairness arguments. They muse leave because it is against the law for them to be here, and we are in our right in passing laws.
Any humanitarian feelings we have should be addressed in the legislature, not by breaking the law.
December 19, 2010 3:50 am at 3:50 am #1211713Midwest2ParticipantBegging your pardon, but aren’t we all immigrants (except for the Indians)? Wasn’t Eretz Yisroel built in part by illegal immigrants, because our lovely British friends didn’t want to irritate the Arabs by letting in too many Holocaust survivors?
Maybe we should be deporting illegal aliens as a matter of upholding the law, but should we be getting self-righteous about it? BTW, are you an immigrant yourself? Homeowner’s got a point – I grew up in the Middle West and never ever heard a “real American” say “whilst.”
December 19, 2010 4:55 am at 4:55 am #1211714Sister BearMemberI totally agree!!!!!!!!! It’s sooooo annoying and frustrating to see these illegal immigrants getting free insurance and what not while people who wanna come here legally have to pass through so much red tape!!!
People should really do stuff about it!!!
(I can’t cuz I’m a legal immigrant)
December 19, 2010 5:09 am at 5:09 am #1211715charliehallParticipantSister Bear,
I don’t know where illegal immigrants are getting free insurance; they are ineligible for almost all government programs.
To all,
I recently served on a federal grand jury for a month. We indicted a lot of people and 80% of the indictments were for illegal entry into the United States after having previously been deported. (Ordinarily, it is not a crime to simply be in the US illegally, but it is if you were previously deported and didn’t get permission to return.) The Assistant US Attorneys told me that that is happening all over the US.
The federal government under President Obama is enforcing immigration laws as they have not been enforced in decades, deporting hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants each year and prosecuting these criminal cases where in the past the government had been willing to simply deport them again. But law enforcement will never be able to solve the problem alone as there remains tremendous demand for the labor that illegal immigrants perform, and tremendous numbers of persons in Mexico, the Philippines, China, and India who want to come to the US. The only solution will involve huge increases in the immigration quotas for at least those four countries.
Midwest2 is correct, we should enforce the law. But it was immigrants who made America the great place that it is and we should make it even more friendly to immigrants — legal immigrants.

Where does American English come from? You can call it American Swahili. It’s not the original!
December 19, 2010 6:11 pm at 6:11 pm #1211719charliehallParticipantAlso worth mentioning is that it would cost tens of billions of dollars to increase the size of the federal law enforcement agencies to the point that they could arrest, detain, and deport most of the illegal immigrants. Very few of the people who scream about illegal immigrants are willing to pay the increased taxes.
And of course when a Jewish business gets raided for illegal immigrants we scream anti-Semitism.
December 19, 2010 6:27 pm at 6:27 pm #1211720mandyMemberThe states makes tons of money off the illegals. TX made over a billion dollars from them in 2006, and that’s after all the costs. Do some research before you post vile invectives on line for the whole world to see.
Moreover, there are plenty of Israeli and other Jewish illegals in NY which would be affected if all the illegals were sent out, as per your proposal.
Finally, there’s nothing separating any of us from the illegals other than pure luck that we were born here or to a family which had the financial means to immigrate legally. Just to fill out the initial entry form to apply for legal entry is more money than many families make in a few years. Get an education and post things that aren’t a complete chillul Hashem.

Try “petrol” “bin” “jumper” “chipolatas” – and that’s just from the Harry Potter books. Whole real linguistic textbooks have been written about the differences. For that matter, there are plenty of regional differences within the US itself.
Snf you still haven’t answered the question: “Are you a native-born American?”
December 19, 2010 8:13 pm at 8:13 pm #1211724Sam l AmMemberOver 25% of today’s federal prison population are illegal aliens. In some areas of the country, 12% of felonies, 25% of burglaries and 34% of thefts are committed by illegal aliens.”
Ignoring the “minor crime” such as ID theft and property crimes being committed by illegal aliens, here is a summary on some of the collateral damage reaped in crimes as a result of tolerating illegal aliens in the USA:
In Los Angeles, 95% of some 1,500 outstanding warrants for homicides are for illegal aliens. About 67% of the 17,000 outstanding fugitive felony warrants are for illegal aliens.
There are currently over 400,000 unaccounted for illegal alien criminals with outstanding deportation orders. At least one fourth of these are hard core criminals.
80,000 to 100,000 illegal aliens who have been convicted of serious crimes are walking the streets. Based on studies they will commit an average of 13 serious crimes per perpetrator.
Illegal aliens are involved in criminal activities at a rate that is 2-5 times their representative proportion of the population.
In 1980, our Federal and state facilities held fewer than 9,000 criminal aliens but at the end of 2003, approximately 267,000 illegal aliens were incarcerated in U.S. correctional facilities at a cost of about $6.8 billion per year.
At least 4.5 million pounds of cocaine with a street value of at least $72 billion is smuggled across the southern border every year. ..
56% of illegal aliens charged with a reentry offense had previously been convicted on at least 5 prior occasions.
Illegal aliens charged with unlawful reentry had the most extensive criminal histories. 90% had been previously arrested. Of those with a prior arrest, 50% had been arrested for violent or drug-related felonies.
Illegal aliens commit between 700,000 to 1,289,000 or more crimes per year.
Illegal alien sexual predators commit an estimated 130,909 sexual crimes each year.
There may be as many as 240,000 illegal alien sex offenders circulating throughout America. Based on studies, they will commit an average of 8 sex crimes per perpetrator before being caught.
Nearly 63% of illegal alien sex offenders had been deported on another offense prior to committing the sex crime.
Only 2% of the illegal alien sex offenders in one study had no history of criminal behavior, beyond crossing the border illegally.
In Operation Predator, ICE arrested and deported 6,085 illegal alien pedophiles. Some studies suggest each pedophile molests average of 148 children. If so, that could be as many as 900,580 victims.
Nobody knows how big the Sex Slave problem is but it is enormous.
The very brutal MS-13 gang has over 15,000 members and associates in at least 115 different cliques in 33 states.
The overall financial impact of illegal alien crimes is estimated at between $14.4 and $81 billion or more per year. Factor in the crime as a result of the cocaine and other drugs being smuggled in and the number may reach $150 billion per year.
Still think illegal immigration is a “victimless crime” and we don’t need to control our borders? Remember, about 60% of the crimes being committed are by illegal aliens who were previously deported.
Allowing our borders to be disregarded coupled with little national commitment about doing anything about it has resulted in growing mayhem by illegal alien criminals, not a “victimless crime.”
December 19, 2010 9:02 pm at 9:02 pm #1211725mandyMembersam, post your sources. I posted mine, so if you want to be taken seriously do the same. And make sure the sources are unbiased.
Your statistics don’t make sense. An illegal immigrant on average commits less crimes because he or she risks not simply the American jail system but also deportation.

December 19, 2010 9:41 pm at 9:41 pm #1211726aries2756ParticipantI don’t think it is as big a problem as Welfare. People on welfare might actually take the jobs these illegals take, but if welfare found out about it they would lose all their benefits. You can’t work if you are on welfare, and welfare doesn’t work a sliding scale into the system so you can get back on your feet. Once on welfare you are stuck on it. So who are going to do these low level jobs? Most people think it is beneath them. Only people who truly understand the value of work, any work to help their families will take any job to do so, and then move up the chain as they become valuable employees.
Our government is nuts, it punishes honest hardworking people, and rewards lazy bums. Moreso, it makes lazy bums out of hardworking people.
I feel badly for these illegals. They are not coming here to steal and hurt us. They are coming here to support their families back home. So if the government can’t stop them from coming in, maybe they should think of a way to make the process of making them temporarily legal an easier process.
December 20, 2010 12:20 am at 12:20 am #1211727Midwest2ParticipantSam, what’s your beef? You seem to have something very, very personal going on. Were you mugged by an illegal immigrant? Are you running for office and using the CR for practice speech-writing? You bring a whole new dimension to the term “rant.” Does it make you feel good to say nasty things about people you don’t even know?
I think we ought to obey the law, and I think that the availability of illegal immigrants willing to work at substandard pay is bad for working Americans, but I don’t get seriously enraged by it. Immigration reform is a good thing, but it has to be done humanely and sensibly. And I’m certainly not going to get high blood pressure over it.

I can just see where this logic is going.
I believe everyone in this world has the right to a better life, and the right to work towards it. As such, anyone who is willing to work and will not be a burden on the state should be allowed to do so (so that they will not be breaking the law, it should be legal).
P.S. I am a US Citizen.
December 20, 2010 2:16 pm at 2:16 pm #1211734Sam l AmMemberSo gavra_at_work, you believe in throwing our borders open to one and all without restriction? Half of China’s billion people, and billions of others around the world, might just want to take advantage! Or is it that you believe only those who break our laws to enter this nation should be given that privilege, while those that apply legally, wait years and years and years, and still may not get a VISA must suffer at the expense of those who break in? Good logic.

Yes, if half a billion people in China can prove that they have jobs waiting for them in the US, and will not be a burden to society (i.e. there is some sort of visa that disallows benefits of citizens, such as unenployment & healthcare) then I have no issues with them working in the US.

mdd, free open immigration to all the world is unsustainable. Legal immigration is available. Those that come legally should not be disadvantaged (years wait and no guarantee) against those that break our laws and enter illegally.

That is exactly what people said a century ago. As a result, the Johnson-Reed Act was passed in 1924 which slammed the door on Jewish immigration from Eastern Europe. Six million had nowhere to go.
Sam is either not Jewish, or so assimilated that he has lost any connection to our history. Open borders have been essential to Jewish survival. English was not a language spoken by many Jews until about a century ago. And hostility toward immigrants is Midot Sedom.
(Sam’s stats are also completely misleading. The incarcerated illegal immigrants are mostly awaiting deportation, not criminals. It is not a crime to simply be in the US without a proper visa, it is a violation, like a parking ticket. Furthermore, border cities such as El Paso, San Diego, and McAllen have some of the lowest rates of violent crime in the US even though the Mexican cities directly across the border are among the most dangerous in the world.)

Actually, it isn’t. The wait for visas from places like Mexico and the Philippines is often decades. The system is broken and needs to be fixed.
