    how would you describe the year of seminary to a non-jew?

    Post high school religious studies. They will understand the fun part since some colleges are known for the partying.

    A deferment of college to spend a sabbatical year abroad focusing on studies of Jewish religion and customs combined with general travel throughout the country to historical places of significance.

    A year long seminar entitled ‘Becoming an obsessive compulsive maniacal lunatic’.

    If you’re getting college credits (through Touro, YU, TTI, etc): study abroad.

    If you aren’t: gap year.

    You’re going to the Middle East to learn about your religion and culture.

    (This is basically rock-bottom, so feel free to build up.)

    How to spend money to teach your daughter to learn that there entire tafkid in life is too not learn, but rather to support learning, and make sure everyone knows every halacha in their notebook. Including all the notes, wether red, blue, yellow, orange, green, our any other color that comes about

    This happens a few times a week. My classmates always go you went for a year to sudy abroad and go credits for touring. I wanna go to your collage!!!
