According to the ongoing debate in the other thread (http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/can-a-golem-speak), my whole existence is uncertain!

    Oy!

Reminds me of the reason Yitzchok didn’t marry his sister “bakol” – if she was indeed in existence, because according to those who say she wasn’t, he’d be left without a wife.

The mishna in perkei avos talks about you. You obviously exist.

If we take the same criteria for proof of one’s own existence as Descartes did the answer in your case is unclear.

pba, no, according to some it’s only a dream. Hyper-theoretically (or whatever that fancy word is). If I were, those seven ways. I’m sure that’s why they say the mishna starts of with golem, but then switches to chacham, and ends with “and the opposite a golem”. I’m sure they say ’cause maybe there isn’t such a thing. no?

The philosopher Rene’Decartes has a famous quote attributed to him, “I think, therefore I am.” So one day, Decartes walks into a bar for a couple of drinks. After about the 2nd or 3rd drink, the bartender asks, “So, would you like another drink?”. Decartes replies, “I THINK NOT,” and disappears. Just another aspect from which to consider this thread.

Surely you exist but not in Old Man’s dream.

No, you don’t exist. None of us do because none of this is real. Try not to get too bent out of shape about it.

You exist if you use the other definition of Golem as in a klutz, idiot, spaced out individual. If you want to be the man made man, no you don’t. No one in this generation would make one.

hmmm…. You definitely exist cuz ur writing to us. My question is: since when have I existed? Am I a gilgul from the days of moshe rabeinu? Am I moshe rabeinu?

You don’t exist because this is a false world is what I mean. This world is the grease trap under the sink. It has a specific purpose, to trap all the schmutz. Entrapment is legal in the heavenly court. Everyone gets trapped here against their will and everyone will have to answer for what they did while they were stuck on the flypaper. All the tehillim in the world won’t prevent you from having to answer for bad business dealings.

What’s a difference if you exist or not all you have to do is listen to mamar hashem etc.. and if you don’t want to believe in hashem and therefore ask these questions in order to cover your feelings, you’re a straight forwad koifer, and there is enough what to answer, so just stop thinking so much or take some pills to heel your wounds and carry on with a serious life

My my. I see before me what a great Gadol said of someone, “If he would be in the woods he would fight with the trees.”

My my. I see before me an infamous condescending attitude from one who shuns common sense.

Many people see that before you.

Of course I exist. Arnold Fine said (says?) so.
