What is the shiur that if you drink less than it is not breaking the fast? Is it a kzayis or beitza? And how much does that amount equal in ounces? And does it apply to food or only to drink?
And under what circumstances is it permissible to utilize this on today’s fast day? Is it a b’dieved or b’shas hadchak?

July 19, 2011 11:00 pm at 11:00 pm #787539deiyezoogerMemberThere is no way one can DRINK a kezeiyis or a kebeitzah, that are dry mesurments, for liqued one mesures in a reviyis or “meloy ligimov”.

Yom Kippur is actually more lenient as you can eat or drink small amounts for medical reasons and still be given an aliyah.

If you took them with a small sip of water in the morning, then you might as well take each dose with a small sip of water. If you won’t permit yourself to have water, check with your doctor about skipping the entire day’s dose.
July 20, 2011 2:13 pm at 2:13 pm #787544DroidMemberSo if you drink less than miloy lugmo you haven’t broken your fast? How many ounces is miloy lugmo? How many times can you repeat the drink within what timeframe? Is it similar with food?
July 20, 2011 2:37 pm at 2:37 pm #787545bombmaniacParticipantno the reason i took the water in the morning is because my mouth was very dry in the morning and i wouldnt have been able to dry swallow. the rest of the day it wasnt a problem.
July 20, 2011 3:55 pm at 3:55 pm #787546600 Kilo BearMemberAnything on YK (deoraiso) is ossur. Less than a reviis of water, especially to take pills, on the 4 minor fasts (all derabonnon), is allowed by just about anyone. I am not sure about 9 Av which of course is also derabonnon.
OB Creedmoor: The Admou”r meCreedmoor says that Yom haAtzamois has the same status as Yom Kippur and that anyone who even has a drop of water on Yom haAtzamois is chayav kooreys.
